Anthony “CiTRiC” Campos Talks King of the Hill Revival and His Full-Circle Journey with Mike Judge – INTERVIEW

Anthony Campos brings Emilio to life in King of the Hill Season 14.

The residents of Arlen, Texas, are back, and this time Bobby Hill is chasing his culinary dreams in Dallas. With Season 14 of King of the Hill now streaming on Hulu — and ten more episodes on the way — fans are celebrating the return of Mike Judge and Greg Daniels’ beloved animated series. Among the new additions is Emilio, voiced by Anthony “CiTRiC” Campos, who brings fresh energy to Bobby’s kitchen adventures.

A Familiar Voice Returns to Arlen

Campos admitted he was thrilled to rejoin the world of King of the Hill, having voiced a small role in the early seasons. “I was excited for the show to come back because there was never really an ending,” he said. “This feels like a continuance, and it’s exciting to see where the storyline is now and where it’s heading.”

Working alongside the returning voice cast felt surreal. “It’s a legendary show with legendary cast members,” Campos explained. “Those voices are going to live on forever, and to be a part of that ensemble — it’s humbling. Everyone welcomed me with open arms.”

From Idiocracy to Arlen

Campos’ relationship with Judge actually goes back nearly two decades. He recalled nearly skipping the audition for Idiocracy because acting wasn’t his focus at the time. “I wasn’t really trying to be an actor, but Mike saw my audition tape and thought it was funny,” he said. “When I finally met him in Austin, we hit it off. A month later, I got the call that I landed the part.”

His first movie experience was overwhelming but unforgettable. “I didn’t read the whole script — it was a big one,” Campos laughed. “I just learned my parts. After the first couple of days of filming in Austin, I realized, ‘Oh, we’re supposed to be a bunch of dumbasses in the future.’ Then it all clicked.”

Bobby’s Culinary Partner

Now, years later, Campos’ Emilio becomes a pivotal part of Bobby Hill’s life as he pursues his dream of becoming a chef in Dallas. “When you read one of Mike’s scripts, you can already envision it,” he said. “When I saw the first episode, it was exactly how I pictured it. Seeing Bobby older now makes it cool to watch how his dynamic has changed from when he was a kid.”

Campos also values what Emilio adds to Bobby’s arc. “Introducing new characters like Emilio really builds out Bobby’s story,” he said. “It adds something fresh to the show while still honoring the characters fans grew up with.”

The Eternal Question

Of course, no trip to Arlen would be complete without addressing the debate over propane versus charcoal. Laughing, Campos admitted, “That’s a good one, because I use both. Don’t tell Hank!”

Looking Ahead

Even though he hasn’t caught up with every new episode himself, Campos is eager for fans to see more of Emilio. “I’m looking forward to being on more episodes,” he said. “It’s a lot of fun, and I really appreciate all the support.”

For Campos, stepping back into Judge’s world feels like a full-circle moment — from cult classic Idiocracy to Arlen, Texas. And for fans, it proves that King of the Hill’s humor, heart, and humanity remain as strong as ever.

King of the Hill Season 14 is now streaming on Hulu.
