A special father-daughter adventure enters Dora’s world.

To kick off the launch of Nerdtropolis Kids and Kidversation, I spoke with Grammy Award-winning Black Eyed Peas member Taboo and his 9-year-old daughter Jett about their latest collaboration in Dora. The father-daughter duo voices colorful musical cockatoos in an upcoming episode titled Dora’s Song For Papi. They also contributed an original song, “Melodía,” that perfectly captures the spirit of the show.
For Taboo, this was more than just another voice acting role—it was a deeply personal and meaningful family project. “For us, having this beautiful mosaic of representation on screen, having an iconic matriarch like Dora speak to girls and families that represent our cultural background was beautiful,” Taboo shared during the interview.
Jett, who makes her entertainment debut alongside her father, said the experience felt natural and fun. “It was just like we were at home making character voices,” she said.
“Melodía” Joins Dora’s 25th Anniversary Tribute Album
Their new song “Melodía” will be featured on The Great Dora Fiesta (25th Anniversary Tribute Album), releasing Friday, June 13. The album includes 15 tracks that celebrate all things Dora. It offers fresh takes on classic songs like “I’m the Map,” “Backpack,” and “Swiper No Swiping,” while introducing new original tracks like “Life is an Adventure” and “Fiesta Kinda Feeling.” The album spans a wide range of musical styles, from upbeat Latin rhythms (“Súper Bien”) to smooth vocal harmonies (“Dora-cappella”).
The episode Dora’s Song For Papi will premiere as part of the show’s third season. It will stream Wednesday, July 2, exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. and internationally.
Taboo’s Journey Beyond the Black Eyed Peas
Born Jimmy Gomez in Boyle Heights, California, Taboo’s path to global fame wasn’t without its challenges. Of Shoshone and Mexican descent, he was encouraged by his grandmother—a dancer herself—to pursue his passion for performing from an early age. After meeting will.i.am and apl.de.ap in Los Angeles, Taboo officially joined The Black Eyed Peas in 1995. The group would go on to release multiple multi-platinum albums and iconic hits such as “Where Is The Love?,” “Boom Boom Pow,” and “I Gotta Feeling,” earning Grammy, Billboard, MTV, Juno, and American Music Awards.

Outside of music, Taboo has been a vocal advocate for Indigenous rights, most notably joining the protests at Standing Rock against the Dakota Access Pipeline. His song Stand Up / Stand N Rock #NoDAPL brought further awareness to the cause. Today, Taboo also dedicates time to visiting schools, inspiring disadvantaged youth to dream big and stay motivated.
The Future Is Bright for Jett
Jett’s love for Nickelodeon started with shows like Victorious and Sam & Cat, but stepping into the world of Dora has opened up brand new doors.

As Taboo puts it: “Half the battle is the fearlessness and wanting to just learn, get better, put in those hours. Over 10,000 hours of practice or investment into your creativity or craft really takes you far.”
The Bond Beyond the Booth
Throughout the Kidversation, Taboo and Jett made it clear that this project was more than just work—it was a bonding experience. Whether voicing characters, writing songs, or simply geeking out together, this father-daughter duo is showing the power of creativity, family, and representation in entertainment.
Dora Season 3 premieres July 2 on Paramount+. The Great Dora Fiesta album drops June 13.
