The “Cape Fear” series sets a June 5 debut on Apple TV, with Scorsese and Spielberg producing.

Apple TV will unleash a new storm this summer. The streamer announced its psychological horror thriller “Cape Fear” will debut globally on Friday, June 5, 2026, with the first two episodes, followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31, 2026. The 10-episode limited series comes from creator and showrunner Nick Antosca and is executive produced by Martin Scorsese and Steven Spielberg. Javier Bardem and Amy Adams star and executive produce, with Patrick Wilson also starring.
Inspired by Cape Fear, a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), the notorious killer they helped put behind bars, is released from prison and comes looking for vengeance. Apple shared first-look photos alongside the announcement, offering an early glimpse at the series’s tense, dread-soaked tone.

A modern series built on decades of “Cape Fear” history
“Cape Fear” is based on the novel The Executioners, which also inspired Cape Fear, the Universal Pictures feature that starred Gregory Peck. The new series is also inspired by the acclaimed 1991 remake directed by Scorsese and produced by Spielberg.
The new take aims to stretch the story’s paranoia and moral tension over a weekly rollout, with the Bowdens facing a threat that feels both personal and unavoidable.
The ensemble cast and creative team
The ensemble cast also includes CCH Pounder, Joe Anders, Lily Collias, Jamie Hector, Malia Pyles, and Anna Baryshnikov.
The series hails from UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, and Amblin Television. Antosca executive produces alongside Alex Hedlund for Eat The Cat, while Spielberg executive produces alongside Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey for Amblin Television. Morten Tyldum will direct the pilot and serve as an executive producer.
