New trailer for ‘Drop’ introduces a terrifying digital stalker.

First dates can be nerve-wracking, but they can also be deadly in the upcoming thriller Drop. The newly released trailer, directed by Christopher Landon (Happy Death Day, Freaky), teases a tense, high-stakes mystery in which an anonymous tormentor manipulates a woman through chilling phone messages.

Produced by Blumhouse and Platinum Dunes, Drop follows Violet, played by Emmy nominee Meghann Fahy (The White Lotus, The Perfect Couple), a widowed mother cautiously stepping back into the dating scene. Her date, Henry (Brandon Sklenar, It Ends with Us), initially seems like the perfect match. But as their evening unfolds at an upscale restaurant, Violet begins receiving anonymous messages that escalate from unsettling to life-threatening.
As the texts grow more sinister, Violet realizes her tormentor has watched her every move.
A hooded figure appears on her home security cameras, threatening the lives of her young son and babysitting sister. Given a dire ultimatum, Violet is told she must follow instructions—or face deadly consequences. The final directive is the most harrowing of all: she must kill Henry.
The film also stars Violett Beane (Truth or Dare) and newcomer Jacob Robinson as Violet’s sister and son, alongside Reed Diamond (Moneyball), Gabrielle Ryan (Power Book IV: Force), Jeffery Self (Mack & Rita), Ed Weeks (The Mindy Project), and Travis Nelson (The Lake) as the restaurant’s staff and patrons.

Landon, who helmed last year’s We Have a Ghost, brings his signature mix of suspense and dark humor to Drop. The film is penned by Jillian Jacobs and Chris Roach, the writing duo behind Blumhouse’s Truth or Dare and Fantasy Island.

Jason Blum (Five Nights at Freddy’s, M3GAN) produces for Blumhouse, while Michael Bay (Transformers, A Quiet Place), Brad Fuller (A Quiet Place, The Purge), and Cameron Fuller (The Astronaut) produce for Platinum Dunes. Sam Lerner serves as executive producer.
With its blend of psychological terror and modern-day paranoia, Drop will keep audiences on edge when it hits theaters on April 11.
