5th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards Nominees Announced

“Deadpool & Wolverine,” “Thunderbolts,” and “The Last of Us” lead the 2025 Super Awards nominations.

The Critics Choice Association has officially revealed the 5th Annual Critics Choice Super Awards nominations, honoring the best in fan-favorite genres across film and television. This year’s nominees celebrate excellence in Superhero, Science Fiction/Fantasy, Horror, and Action storytelling. Winners will be announced exclusively on CriticsChoice.com on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 9:00 AM PT.

“Deadpool & Wolverine” and “Thunderbolts*” Dominate the Super Awards Film Categories

Two major Marvel titles are leading the charge this year: Deadpool & Wolverine and Thunderbolts, each securing six nominations. Both films are recognized in the coveted Best Superhero Movie category, alongside Captain America: Brave New World, The People’s Joker, Robot Dreams, and Venom: The Last Dance.

In the acting categories, Deadpool & Wolverine earned nominations for Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie. At the same time, Emma Corrin and Jennifer Garner landed nominations for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie. Emma Corrin also received a nod for Best Villain in a Movie.

Thunderbolts stars David Harbour and Lewis Pullman were also nominated for Best Actor in a Superhero Movie, with Pullman additionally recognized in the Best Villain category. Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Florence Pugh rounded out the film’s nominations for Best Actress in a Superhero Movie.

Other top film nominees include The Fall Guy, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, Dune: Part Two, Nosferatu, Monkey Man, and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

“The Last of Us” Leads Super Awards Television Nominations

On television, HBO’s The Last of Us leads with six nominations, earning recognition in both the Superhero and Horror categories. Pedro Pascal received double acting nods for his performance, while Bella Ramsey is also nominated in both categories.

Additional big nominees include Fallout, The Boys, Agatha All Along, Reacher, Shōgun, Severance, Andor, and The Penguin.

CCA Director of the Super Awards, Sean O’Connell, praised the slate of nominees:

“The Super Awards continue to spotlight the incredible achievements in genre cinema and television. This year’s slate of nominees truly blew us away with their performances and craftsmanship. These selections represent the very best of popular culture, and we can’t wait to see who takes home the honors.”
