Disclosure Day Trailer Sets Steven Spielberg’s Return to Original Sci-Fi Thrills

Steven Spielberg unveils ‘Disclosure Day,’ a global thriller for Summer 2026.

Universal Pictures will release Disclosure Day, a new original thriller written and directed by Steven Spielberg, exclusively in theaters on June 12, 2026. This film marks another major collaboration between the legendary filmmaker and the studio. Their partnership has shaped modern cinema for decades.

The film arrives with a haunting, visceral question: If you discovered we weren’t alone—if someone looked you in the eye and proved it—would your heart race with fear, wonder, or both? This summer-set story teases a seismic revelation meant for all seven billion souls on Earth. As the countdown intensifies, humanity edges collectively toward what the film chillingly dubs “Disclosure Day.”

A Prestigious Ensemble Cast

Disclosure Day features a powerhouse cast led by Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place) and Josh O’Connor (Challengers, The Crown). The ensemble also includes Oscar winner Colin Firth, known for The King’s Speech and the Kingsman franchise. Eve Hewson of Bad Sisters and The Perfect Couple joins him. Two-time Oscar nominee Colman Domingo is also featured. His recent performances in Sing Sing and Rustin earned widespread acclaim.

Reuniting Spielberg and David Koepp

The screenplay is written by David Koepp, based on a story by Spielberg. Koepf and Spielberg share one of the most successful creative partnerships in modern film history. Their previous collaborations include Jurassic Park, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. Collectively, those films earned more than $3 billion worldwide.

Behind the Scenes at Amblin

The film is produced by five-time Academy Award nominee Kristie Macosko Krieger for Amblin Entertainment, alongside Spielberg. Macosko Krieger previously worked with Spielberg on The Fabelmans and West Side Story. Executive producers are Adam Somner and Chris Brigham.

Spielberg’s Legacy and Continuing Impact

Steven Spielberg remains the all-time top-grossing director. He is one of cinema’s most influential voices. His body of work includes Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, and the Indiana Jones franchise. He is a three-time Academy Award winner, earning Best Director and Best Picture for Schindler’s List, and Best Director for Saving Private Ryan.

His most recent film, The Fabelmans, released in 2022, earned seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture and Best Director.

A Global Thriller for a New Era

Classified as a thriller, Disclosure Day promises a return to Spielberg’s signature blend of wonder, tension, and emotion. As humanity faces proof it is not alone, the film offers both spectacle and a reflection on fear, truth, and shared responsibility.

Disclosure Day opens in theaters nationwide on June 12, 2026.
