Disney+ partners with World Cerebral Palsy Day to promote ‘Out of My Mind.’

Disney+ has released the trailer for its upcoming original movie Out of My Mind, in partnership with World Cerebral Palsy Day, which is observed globally on Oct. 6. The film, based on the bestselling novel by Sharon M. Draper, premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Film Festival and will begin streaming on Disney+ on Nov. 22.

Out of My Mind follows Melody Brooks, a bright sixth grader with cerebral palsy. Despite her quick wit and sharp mind, Melody is often overlooked and underestimated because she is nonverbal and uses a wheelchair. However, her life changes when a young educator recognizes her untapped potential and brings her into mainstream education. Melody soon proves that what she says is far more important than how she communicates.
The film stars Phoebe-Rae Taylor in her breakout role as Melody. The cast also includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Luke Kirby, Michael Chernus, Courtney Taylor, and Judith Light. Jennifer Aniston lends her voice as Melody’s inner dialogue, offering viewers an intimate look at the character’s rich inner life.
The movie’s release coincides with World Cerebral Palsy Day, an annual initiative to raise awareness of the condition and promote inclusivity for those affected by it. With its inspiring story of perseverance and understanding, Out of My Mind will resonate with audiences of all ages.
