Inside the Turtles’ new chapter, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Nickelodeon and Point Grey Pictures have teamed up again to bring fans an exciting new chapter in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles universe. The all-new Paramount+ original series Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles promises to take audiences on a thrilling journey with everyone’s favorite pizza-loving heroes as they navigate the dangers of New York City. All 12 episodes of the premiere season will debut on Friday, August 9, exclusively on Paramount+.

I had the pleasure of speaking with showrunners Chris Yost and Alan Wan, who brought their extensive experience to the series. Yost, known for his work on Thor: The Dark World and Thor: Ragnarok, as well as Cowboy Bebop and the 2003 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, is no stranger to crafting compelling stories in beloved franchises. Wan, whose credits include storyboard work on Men in Black: The Series, Jackie Chan Adventures, The Batman (2006), and Ben 10, has a deep understanding of visual storytelling that shines through in the series.
During our conversation, Yost and Wan shared their first experiences falling in love with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and how that passion has fueled their work on the new series. They discussed the importance of keeping the franchise fresh and engaging for new and returning audiences, which has been achieved through innovative visual techniques and a deep respect for the series’ rich history.
TMNT: Mutant Mayhem was a hit.
This new series will carry that momentum forward. The show brings Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo back to the streets of NYC, where they face new threats and team up with familiar allies to protect the city from villains lurking in the shadows. The voice cast consists of Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo), and Brady Noon (Raphael). The series delivers a mix of action, humor, and heart that has always been a hallmark of the franchise.
With Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Yost and Wan have successfully breathed new life into the franchise while honoring its legacy. Fans old and new will find much to love in this latest adventure of the Turtles as they fight to protect their city.
