Josh Hutcherson and Elizabeth Lail return as the animatronic nightmare spreads beyond Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza.

Blumhouse has released a new trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. It is the highly anticipated sequel to the 2023 box-office phenomenon. The film is set to open in theaters on December 5, 2025 and promises another round of supernatural horror and animatronic mayhem.
The first Five Nights at Freddy’s became a breakout hit. It grossed nearly $300 million worldwide and ranked as the highest-grossing horror film of 2023. The films are based on the popular game series created by Scott Cawthon. Once again, the franchise continues under returning director Emma Tammi, who co-wrote the script alongside Cawthon.
A Year After the Nightmare
Set one year after the events at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, the sequel follows former security guard Mike (Josh Hutcherson) and police officer Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) as they try to move on from the horrors they survived. Mike’s younger sister Abby (Piper Rubio) remains unaware of the dark truth about her animatronic friends—until she sneaks out to reconnect with them.
Her decision triggers a new wave of terror, unearthing long-buried secrets about the origins of Freddy’s and awakening a forgotten evil that’s been hidden for decades.
A Packed Cast of Familiar and New Faces
In addition to Hutcherson, Lail, Rubio, and Theodus Crane, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 welcomes several new stars. Matthew Lillard returns as the mysterious William Afton. The newcomers feature Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park, Seinfeld), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire), and Skeet Ulrich (Scream).

Produced by Jason Blum and Scott Cawthon, the sequel continues Blumhouse’s streak of high-concept horror hits.
