Focus Features Sets Christmas Release for Song Sung Blue Starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson

Neil Diamond-inspired Song Sung Blue to bring holiday cheer with Jackman and Hudson.

Focus Features has set Song Sung Blue, a new musical drama starring Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson, for a wide U.S. release on Dec. 25, 2025. The film, written and directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow). It tells the uplifting true story of two down-on-their-luck performers who rediscover purpose and romance by forming a Neil Diamond tribute band. The project blends music, love, and second chances into a feel-good holiday theatrical experience.

Brewer also produced the film alongside John Davis and John Fox of Davis Entertainment.

Michael Imperioli, Fisher Stevens, Jim Belushi, Ella Anderson, King Princess, Mustafa Shakir, and Hudson Hilbert Hensley join Jackman and Hudson in the ensemble cast. Song Sung Blue is based on Greg Kohs’s 2008 documentary. Focus Features developed the feature and holds worldwide rights, while Universal Pictures International will handle international distribution.

With Brewer’s return to musical storytelling and a cast of veteran performers and rising stars, Song Sung Blue is poised to be a crowd-pleasing hit when it opens on Christmas Day.
