The epic sci-fi series Foundation returns with new characters, higher stakes, and an intergalactic threat.
Apple TV+ has officially unveiled the first trailer for the highly anticipated third season of Foundation, the hit sci-fi drama inspired by Isaac Asimov’s legendary book series. The new season is set to make its global debut on Friday, July 11, 2025, with one episode dropping weekly through September 12 on Apple TV+.
The series is led once again by Emmy-nominated stars Jared Harris (Hari Seldon), Lee Pace (Brother Day), and Lou Llobell (Gaal Dornick). Foundation continues its sprawling saga of power, survival, and destiny across the galaxy.
A New Chapter in the Galactic Epic
Set 152 years after the events of season two, season three picks up as The Foundation has grown well beyond its modest origins, while the once-mighty Galactic Empire under the Cleonic Dynasty faces increasing instability. As these two powerful forces attempt a fragile alliance, a new danger rises, threatening to upend the galaxy entirely.
The looming threat comes in the form of a mysterious warlord known as The Mule, whose mastery of military might and mind control presents a terrifying challenge to both sides. With humanity’s future hanging in the balance, the struggle for control becomes a high-stakes game of intergalactic chess as Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel face shifting alliances, betrayals, and dangerous new players.
A Star-Studded Cast Joins the Battle
Season three will introduce several new faces to the already impressive ensemble. New cast members include Emmy-winner Cherry Jones, Brandon P. Bell, Synnøve Karlsen, Cody Fern, Tómas Lemarquis, Alexander Siddig, Oscar-winner Troy Kotsur, and Pilou Asbæk. They join returning stars Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, Terrence Mann, and Rowena King.
The series continues to push the boundaries of sci-fi storytelling with its complex world-building, cinematic visuals, and deeply layered characters. Its creative leadership is led by David S. Goyer, who returns as executive producer.
