Marlon Wayans and Tyriq Withers Star in HIM, a psychological descent into fame and obsession.

The new trailer has dropped for HIM, an eerie, slow-burning psychological thriller from Monkeypaw Productions, the genre powerhouse behind Get Out, Us, Nope, and Candyman. Produced by Oscar winner Jordan Peele, the film hits theaters on September 19, blending the brutal world of professional football with a creeping exploration of obsession, sacrifice, and identity.

Directed by Justin Tipping (Kicks), HIM follows Cameron Cade (Tyriq Withers), a rising football star whose life is derailed by a violent, unexpected attack on the eve of his NFL scouting Combine. Suffering a traumatic brain injury, Cam finds his future in jeopardy—until he receives a surprising offer from his idol.
The Price of Greatness
Marlon Wayans steps into a haunting new dramatic role as Isaiah White, an eight-time championship-winning quarterback, and pop culture icon who offers to train Cam at his private compound. As Cameron begins his rehabilitation and grueling training regimen under Isaiah’s watchful eye, the situation slowly morphs from mentorship to manipulation.
Isaiah’s outward charm begins to unravel, revealing something far more sinister, especially as Cameron becomes entangled with Isaiah’s enigmatic wife, Elsie White, played by Julia Fox (Uncut Gems, No Sudden Move). What starts as a dream opportunity quickly spirals into a waking nightmare, as Cameron’s grasp on reality and identity begins to slip.
A Cast of Unlikely Powerhouses
Joining the unsettling descent into sports fame are comedian Tim Heidecker (Us), stand-up comic Jim Jefferies, and real-life MMA fighter Maurice Greene. The film also marks the feature debuts of rapper Guapdad 4000 and Grammy-nominated artist Tierra Whack, expanding the film’s cultural footprint.

HIM is written by Zack Akers & Skip Bronkie, the minds behind the cult hit podcast and series Limetown, and co-written by director Tipping. Behind the camera, Jordan Peele, Ian Cooper, Win Rosenfeld, and Jamal M. Watson serve as producers for Monkeypaw Productions, alongside executive producers David Kern and Kate Oh.
Fame, Football, and Fear
The trailer teases a film dripping with psychological tension, slowly peeling back the layers of celebrity worship and toxic ambition. With moody cinematography, haunting music, and tension-driven performances, HIM looks to add another chilling entry to the Monkeypaw catalog.
HIM opens exclusively in theaters September 19.
