Michael Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson stars in the upcoming biopic.

Jaafar Jackson, nephew of the legendary Michael Jackson, is set to dazzle audiences worldwide with his portrayal of the “Man in the Mirror” in the upcoming Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International film “Michael.” Today, fans got their first glimpse of Jaafar embodying his uncle’s iconic persona, captured in a striking image by renowned photographer Kevin Mazur.

Mazur played a significant role in capturing Jaafar’s transformation into the King of Pop.

He had documented Michael’s life and artistry before. In the past, Mazur had captured moments from Michael’s rehearsals for the “This Is It” concerts. Now, he has added another milestone to his portfolio by immortalizing Jaafar in character as the King of Pop. Reflecting on his experience on set, Mazur shared, “When I arrived for my first day on the set of this movie, I was so excited – it was like the first time I went on tour to shoot Michael Jackson. When I walked onto the set, I felt like I’d gone back in time, and I was walking into the stadium to shoot the tour. Seeing Jaafar perform, I thought, ‘Wow, it is Michael.’ He looks and acts, his mannerisms, everything – he’s Michael Jackson. This is how it was for anyone who didn’t have the chance to see Michael perform live during his lifetime.”

Producer Graham King echoed Mazur’s sentiments.

He emphasized Jaafar’s unparalleled embodiment of Michael Jackson. “With Jaafar, every look, every note, every dance move is Michael,” King remarked. “He embodies Michael in a way that no other actor could.” Director Antoine Fuqua underscored the collaborative effort behind the project, noting the reunion of artists who previously worked with Michael. However, Fuqua emphasized that Jaafar’s portrayal transcends physical resemblance, channeling Michael’s spirit in a truly magical manner. “It’s Michael’s spirit that comes through magically. You have to experience it to believe it,” Fuqua expressed.
