James Wan Brings Rural Horror to Life with Teacup on Peacock

A first look at James Wan’s latest horror Series, Teacup.

Horror fans have a new series to anticipate this fall as the official trailer for Teacup, the latest horror-thriller from James Wan’s Atomic Monster, dropped today. Produced in partnership with UCP, Teacup promises a terrifying and suspenseful viewing experience, much like Wan’s previous hits, The Conjuring and Insidious. This eight-episode series premieres exclusively on Peacock on October 10, 2024, with the first two episodes available immediately and two episodes dropping weekly through Halloween.

The series features a strong cast.

featuring Emmy-nominated actress Yvonne Strahovski (The Handmaid’s Tale), Scott Speedman (Grey’s Anatomy), and Chaske Spencer (The English). The show is led by first-time showrunner Ian McCulloch, whose previous work includes Yellowstone and Chicago Fire. The first two episodes were directed by E.L. Katz, known for his work on The Haunting of Bly Manor and Channel Zero.

Inspired by Robert McCammon’s bestselling novel Stinger.

Teacup follows a diverse group of individuals in rural Georgia. They must band together to confront a mysterious and terrifying threat in their community. The eerie and isolated setting adds to the tension as the characters face both external and internal horrors while navigating complex personal dynamics.

James Wan, an executive producer on the series, shared his excitement about the adaptation. He stated, “The story had all the ingredients for a captivating series, and Ian McCulloch had the vision to bring it to life in a fresh way that was both startling and darkly atmospheric.” Wan added that the show doesn’t just focus on fear but also explores human emotions, setting it apart from typical horror narratives.

A Genre-Bending Experience

Teacup is expected to defy conventional labels. While primarily a horror-thriller, the series weaves elements of mystery and drama throughout its storyline. Viewers can expect suspenseful twists and character-driven plots as the show unfolds. The series is shaping up to be a must-watch this Halloween season. Fans of Wan’s previous films and lovers of horror in general won’t want to miss it.
