Shelter is a high-stakes journey from Director Ric Roman Waugh.

The first trailer for Shelter, the new thriller led by Jason Statham, has arrived and sets the tone for a tense, character-driven survival story. The film opens in isolation on a remote coastal island, where a reclusive man, played by Statham, lives far from the rest of the world. His quiet routine breaks when he discovers a young girl caught in a violent storm and pulls her to safety.

That rescue throws them into danger. Their connection forces him out of his self-imposed exile and pushes him to confront a past he has tried to bury. As the trailer hints, the pair quickly becomes the target of threats tied to his former life, setting up a gripping journey that mixes action, suspense, and emotional stakes.
A New Dramatic Turn for Jason Statham
Statham’s rugged intensity fits the role of a man trying to outrun his mistakes while protecting someone who unexpectedly depends on him. The trailer leans into more dramatic beats than many of his recent projects, signaling a grounded performance layered with regret, guilt, and determination. Bodhi Rae Breathnach, known for Hamnet, plays the girl whose arrival disrupts his isolation.

Shelter also features Naomi Ackie, who earned acclaim for portraying Whitney Houston in I Wanna Dance with Somebody, along with Academy Award nominee Bill Nighy (Living).
The film is directed by Ric Roman Waugh, known for Greenland and Angel Has Fallen, two films praised for mixing large-scale stakes with grounded human drama. His track record suggests Shelter will balance intimate storytelling with pulse-pounding action.
Shelter arrives exclusively in theaters on January 30, 2026.
