Bruce Springsteen Biopic Starring Jeremy Allen White First Look

Scott Cooper’s Bruce Springsteen Film “Deliver Me from Nowhere” begins production.

Production has officially begun on Deliver Me from Nowhere. It is a biographical film about the creation of Bruce Springsteen’s iconic 1982 album, Nebraska. Scott Cooper directed the movie. He is known for films like Crazy Heart and Black Mass. Cooper also wrote it based on Warren Zanes’ book. The book explores the raw and intimate process behind making one of Springsteen’s most haunting records. The film is slated for a 2025 theatrical release.

Taking on the role of The Boss himself is Jeremy Allen White, celebrated for his award-winning performances in The Bear. White will portray a young Springsteen. He navigates an emotionally turbulent period in his life. He created a deeply personal and unfiltered album that would become Nebraska during this time. “Beginning production on this film is an incredibly humbling and thrilling journey,” Cooper said. “Bruce Springsteen’s Nebraska has profoundly shaped my artistic vision. Our film aims to capture that same spirit. We want to honor Bruce’s legacy in a transformative cinematic experience.”

The film features a stellar cast.

It includes Jeremy Strong (Succession) as Springsteen’s long-time mentor and manager, Jon Landau. Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird) will play guitar technician Mike Batlan. Odessa Young (The Staircase) portrays Faye. She is a significant figure from Springsteen’s past. Sir Stephen Graham (Pirates of the Caribbean) plays Springsteen’s father. Johnny Cannizzaro (Jersey Boys) will appear as Stevie Van Zandt, a member of The E Street Band.

Deliver Me from Nowhere explores how Nebraska was created. It was recorded in Springsteen’s New Jersey bedroom on a 4-track cassette recorder. The album marked a significant departure from the rock sound of his earlier work. It captures a stark, acoustic portrayal of life’s struggles, characterized by narratives of lost souls. Despite its stripped-down production, Nebraska is regarded as one of Springsteen’s most enduring albums, inspiring countless artists over the decades.

Filming is set to take place in New Jersey and New York. Additional scenes will be shot in Los Angeles. Cooper highlighted his collaboration with Springsteen. He also emphasized the role of long-time manager Jon Landau. Their creative input has been essential to the project. “It has been a great pleasure to collaborate with Bruce and Jon as I tell their story, and their creative energy fuels every part of this journey,” Cooper added.

Springsteen, a proud South Jersey native, is a regular at the Jersey Shore. He is often seen visiting local shops, restaurants, and music venues. The film aims to showcase this local connection, bringing authenticity to the setting of Nebraska’s creation.
