IMAX to offer a musical experience like no other with Joker: Folie À Deux.

A new trailer for Joker: Folie À Deux, the much-anticipated sequel to 2019’s Joker, has been released. Also, tickets are now on sale. Directed by Todd Phillips, the film once again stars Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck. He reprises his Oscar-winning role alongside Oscar-winner Lady Gaga, who plays his love interest. Contrary to prior speculation, Joker: Folie À Deux is confirmed to be a musical. This decision adds an unexpected twist to Gotham’s dark, gritty world.

The movie is part of the Filmed for IMAX program.
It was shot entirely with IMAX-certified digital cameras. Fans who attend the film in IMAX will experience an exclusive 54 minutes in Expanded Aspect Ratio (EAR) at 1.90:1. It offers up to 26% more picture than traditional theaters. This immersive visual experience will pull audiences deeper into Arthur Fleck’s troubled psyche and the vivid musical sequences that define his emotional journey.
The plot of Joker: Folie À Deux picks up with Arthur institutionalized at Arkham Asylum. He is facing trial for his crimes as the Joker. As Arthur grapples with his split identity, the film introduces an unexpected romantic angle, with Phoenix and Gaga’s characters finding love amidst chaos. Music plays a central role in Arthur’s internal struggles, transforming Folie À Deux into a psychological musical set against Gotham’s bleak backdrop.
Brendan Gleeson and Catherine Keener join the cast, alongside returning star Zazie Beetz. Phillips, who earned Academy Award nominations for directing, writing, and producing Joker, collaborates again with screenwriter Scott Silver on the sequel. The film features music consultancy by Lady Gaga and contributions from composer Hildur Guðnadóttir, who won an Oscar for her work on the first film.
Joker: Folie À Deux promises an extraordinary cinematic experience enhanced by its IMAX presentation. The film will be released in theaters on October 4.
