Meet the Stars of Kevin Smith’s Nostalgic Comedy, The 4:30 Movie

The 4:30 Movie is a nostalgic ride for the youth of the ’80s.

Writer-director Kevin Smith is set to bring audiences back to the summer of 1986 with The 4:30 Movie. It is a coming-of-age romantic comedy that highlights the timeless allure of friendship, first love, and the magic of the movies. Starring a cast of emerging talents like Austin Zajur, Nicholas Cirillo, Reed Northrup, and Siena Agudong, the film promises both heartfelt moments and outrageous comedy.

At the center of The 4:30 Movie are three 16-year-olds — Brian David (Austin Zajur), Burny (Nicholas Cirillo), and Belly (Reed Northrup). They spend their Saturdays sneaking into R-rated movies at their local cineplex. Their carefree routine faces a hilarious disruption when Brian invites his crush, Melody Barnegat (Siena Agudong), to an R-rated movie. Thanks to a meddling theater manager, played by the ever-hilarious Ken Jeong, things quickly spiral out of control.

The film’s lighthearted premise is rooted in Kevin Smith’s own nostalgic love for cinema. In an interview with the cast, they reveal their first R-rated movie experiences, go-to theater snacks, and favorite 80s films. Plus, they reveal their top Kevin Smith movies.

The cast showcases a diverse range of talent, each bringing their own unique experiences to the film.

Austin Zajur, who plays Brian David, is a rising star who gained recognition for his role in Fist Fight and later appeared in Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Clerks 3, and Mythic Quest. Nicholas Cirillo, portraying Burny, has proven his versatility with roles in Poker Face, Outer Banks, and She Hulk. Reed Northrup, who plays Belly, has made a name for himself on stage and screen, including his recent role in Relay and the animated series Teenage Euthanasia. Siena Agudong, who stars as Melody Barnegat, has built a strong career in television and film. She is known for her roles in Resident Evil, F9, Upside Down Magic, and No Good Nick. Together, these four talented actors bring heart, humor, and energy to The 4:30 Movie

Each contributes unforgettable characters that embody the spirit of ’80s cinema. The 4:30 Movie promises to be a comedic yet sentimental love letter to youth, friendship, and the magic of moviegoing during one unforgettable summer. It will release in theaters on September 13, 2024.
