Alongside Maui, the film introduces fresh characters, including Moni, Kele, and Loto, voiced by Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo, respectively. Joining them is the mysterious Matangi (voiced by Awhimai Fraser) and Moana’s ancestor, Tautai Vasa (Gerald Ramsey). Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda lends her voice to Moana’s adorable little sister, Simea.
The sequel brings back several beloved characters.
It includes Gramma Tala (Rachel House), Chief Tui (Temuera Morrison), and Sina (Nicole Scherzinger). Directed by David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller, the film’s vibrant soundtrack is crafted by Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, alongside Opetaia Foa‘i and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina, who all return after contributing to the original movie’s success.
The first Moana film was released in 2016. It became a cultural phenomenon, earning praise for its stunning animation, heartwarming story, and chart-topping songs like “How Far I’ll Go.” With Moana 2 on the horizon, fans are eager to dive back into this beautifully animated world.
