Moana 2 takes center stage at the D23 Expo.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the trailer for its highly anticipated animated musical Moana 2. It will be released in theaters on November 27. This epic sequel brings back beloved characters. It also introduces new faces in an adventurous tale of discovery, tradition, and the enduring spirit of exploration.

The story picks up three years after the original film’s events.
It reunites Moana (voiced by Auli’i Cravalho) and the demigod Maui (voiced by Dwayne Johnson) as they embark on a daring new journey. Moana, now a confident wayfinder and leader, is called upon by her ancestors to navigate the farthest reaches of Oceania. Joined by a crew of unlikely seafarers, Moana ventures into dangerous, long-lost waters. She will encounter challenges that test her courage and skill like never before. Watch the trailer below!
David Derrick Jr., Jason Hand, and Dana Ledoux Miller direct Moana 2. Christina Chen and Yvett Merino lead the production. The film’s music is a standout feature. It features contributions from Grammy winners Abigail Barlow and Emily Bear, Grammy nominee Opetaia Foa‘i, and three-time Grammy winner Mark Mancina. Jared Bush and Dana Ledoux Miller penned the screenplay, with Jennifer Lee, Jared Bush, and Dwayne Johnson serving as executive producers.

The film also welcomes back Rachel House as Moana’s wise grandmother, Tala; Temuera Morrison as her father, Chief Tui; and Nicole Scherzinger as her mother, Sina. New characters are voiced by Hualālai Chung, David Fane, and Rose Matafeo, who bring to life Moana’s new crew members, Moni, Kele, and Loto, respectively. The cast includes Awhimai Fraser as the mysterious Matangi, Gerald Ramsey as the revered ancestor Tautai Vasa, and Khaleesi Lambert-Tsuda as Moana’s adorable little sister, Simea.
“Moana 2” promises to be an exciting continuation of Moana’s journey. It will blend vibrant animation, captivating music, and a story celebrating the power of family, heritage, and adventure. Fans can look forward to experiencing this new chapter on the big screen this November.
