“Monarch” Season 2 heads to Skull Island and introduces Titan X.

Apple TV has dropped a new teaser for Season 2 of its hit sci-fi drama “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and it promises the biggest shake-up yet for the Monsterverse series. The 10-episode second season premieres globally Friday, Feb. 27, 2026, with the first episode, followed by one new episode every Friday through May 1.
Season 2 brings back Kurt Russell, Wyatt Russell, Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Joe Tippett, and Anders Holm. The new teaser also signals a major expansion of Legendary’s Monsterverse on the small screen, with bigger Titan stakes and a fresh threat rising from the deep.
That threat has a name now: Titan X.
Titan X Enters the Monsterverse
In addition to Kong, Season 2 will feature Godzilla and introduce Titan X, an enigmatic new Titan officially on the loose. The teaser frames the creature as more than another monster and more like a living cataclysm. When Titan X’s massive, bioluminescent form breaks the ocean surface, the moment plays like the planet is holding its breath.
Within the season’s central mystery, Titan X is positioned as an ancient force emerging from the deep with unknown motives and unmatched power. The show leans into the awe and terror that come with that kind of arrival, especially in a world still learning how to survive alongside Titans.
Additional Season 2 guest stars include Takehiro Hira, Amber Midthunder, Curtiss Cook, Cliff Curtis, Dominique Tipper, and Camilo Jiménez Varón.
What Happened in Season 1
Season 1 followed two siblings as they tried to uncover their family’s connection to Monarch, the shadowy organization that monitors Titans. Their search led them deeper into the world of monsters, and eventually toward Army officer Lee Shaw, played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell.
The story moved between the 1950s and half a century later, as Monarch faced a growing threat tied to what Shaw knew. The season balanced personal family fallout with the larger reality that the world’s monster problem was only getting bigger.
Skull Island, Secrets and a Titan Event Ahead
Season 2 picks up with the fate of Monarch and the world hanging in the balance. The saga digs into buried secrets that reunite heroes and villains on Kong’s Skull Island. From there, the story expands to a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea.
The season’s tension comes from the way the past keeps colliding with the present. Those ripple effects strain relationships and blur the bonds between family, friends, and foes. Meanwhile, the looming threat of a titan event hangs over everything, pushing the characters toward decisions that could redefine who survives and what is left behind.
Apple TV’s Monsterverse Plans Grow Bigger
Apple TV is also building beyond “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.” The streamer has announced plans for multiple Monsterverse series featuring both new and familiar Titans.
The first spinoff will be an untitled Young Lee Shaw prequel, with Wyatt Russell reprising his role as Colonel Lee Shaw and serving as an executive producer. The prequel will be showrun and executive produced by Joby Harold, who will also oversee the Monsterverse expansion on Apple TV under an overall deal with Legendary.
The Monsterverse Legacy
Legendary’s Monsterverse has grown into a cross-platform franchise centered on humanity’s fight to survive in a world where the monsters of myth are real. It began with “Godzilla” in 2014 and expanded through “Kong: Skull Island,” “Godzilla: King of the Monsters,” and “Godzilla vs. Kong.”

The franchise hit a new high with “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire,” the highest-grossing installment in the Monsterverse and the highest-grossing Godzilla film to date. The Monsterverse continues next with “Godzilla x Kong: Supernova,” set for release in 2027.
With Season 2 of “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” Apple TV is making a clear play for even bigger Monsterverse storytelling, and Titan X looks ready to become the franchise’s next terrifying obsession.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 premieres globally on Friday, February 27, 2026.
