Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now Celebrates the Life and Legacy of the Prince of Darkness

Definitive documentary chronicles Ozzy Osbourne’s final years.

Paramount+ announced today that OZZY: No Escape From Now, the definitive account of the rock icon’s final six years, will premiere Tuesday, October 7, exclusively on the streaming service in the U.S. and internationally, excluding Japan.

The two-hour documentary, directed by BAFTA winner Tania Alexander, was produced by Echo Velvet in partnership with the Osbourne family and MTV Entertainment Studios. The film offers an all-access look at Ozzy’s health struggles, resilience, and determination to return to the stage one last time.

A candid family portrait

Alongside Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, children Aimee, Kelly, and Jack appear in the film, reflecting on the life-changing accident in February 2019 when Ozzy suffered a late-night fall. The incident forced him to cancel his two-and-a-half-year farewell tour and led to a series of corrective surgeries, coupled with the progressive effects of his Parkinson’s diagnosis.

“He was in the hospital for weeks. To fall like that and not be able to bounce back like he had in the past, and then having to cancel the tour – that was his biggest heartbreak,” says Aimee Osbourne in the documentary.

The film also reveals Ozzy’s mental health struggles during this period. “At that time, the depression was so bad,” Sharon recalls. “He’d be like, ‘What’s the point in even getting up? I’m not working with the physiotherapist. What’s the point?”

Music as medicine

Despite mounting health challenges, Ozzy found a new purpose through music. His 2019 collaboration with Post Malone on Take What You Want reignited his creativity and led to two acclaimed albums: 2020’s Ordinary Man and 2022’s Grammy®-winning Patient Number 9.

“It got me out of the blues. It helped me. That was the best medicine I ever had at that point,” Ozzy recalls in the film.

Jack Osbourne describes Ordinary Man as deeply personal: “There’s a lot of themes in it [where he is] processing his own life and mortality and what he’s facing.”

Kelly Osbourne adds that she was by her father’s side daily during the recording. “He would go into the studio in the basement of Andrew’s house and get comfortable in this chair that Andrew bought him, and it was like the magic would begin.”

A fitting farewell

The film captures Ozzy’s triumphant appearances, including his surprise performance at the Closing Ceremony of the 2022 Commonwealth Games, his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction rehearsal in 2024, and his final “Back To The Beginning” hometown concert in Birmingham on July 5, 2025.

Although OZZY: No Escape From Now was never intended as a posthumous work, it now stands as a tribute to Osbourne, who passed away on July 22, 2025. His courage, wit, and musical legacy remain celebrated worldwide.

Friends and fellow legends

The documentary also features heartfelt reflections from music icons, including Tony Iommi, Duff McKagan, Slash, Robert Trujillo, James Hetfield, Billy Idol, Maynard James Keenan, Chad Smith, Zakk Wylde, Tom Morello, Billy Corgan, and many others who pay tribute to the man behind the music.
