Predator: Badlands Brings the Hunt Home on Digital in January, Then Hits 4K in February

Predator: Badlands becomes the fanchise’s biggest hit yet.

Predator: Badlands arrives on Digital on January 6 and will be available through major storefronts, including Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. The film then lands on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on Feb. 17, giving collectors and franchise diehards a new reason to clear shelf space.

Director Dan Trachtenberg pushes the long-running sci-fi series into fresh territory, and audiences showed up for it. “Predator: Badlands” has become the highest-grossing entry in the franchise’s 38-year history, earning $183 million worldwide. That total tops the previous record holder, “Alien vs. Predator” (2004), which finished at $177.4 million worldwide.

A New Pair Changes the Game

“Predator: Badlands” expands the franchise’s mythology by digging deeper into Yautja lore. The story introduces Dek (Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi) and Thia (Elle Fanning), two characters who form an unlikely partnership in a world designed to break them.

The film frames their arc as an underdog journey, shaped by survival, self-discovery, and trust that does not come easily. It also blends brutal combat with slick visual effects and moments of humor that cut through the tension. The result plays big, but it also aims for emotion behind the spectacle.

For collectors who want the flashiest option, a limited-edition 4K SteelBook highlights the scale of the battles, including the threat of the Kalisk, while spotlighting the unexpected bond between Dek and Thia.

Set in the future on a deadly, remote planet, “Predator: Badlands” follows Dek, a young Predator outcast from his clan. He finds an unlikely ally in Thia. Together, they take on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary.
