Dress Like a Movie Character, Get Free Popcorn: Regal’s National Popcorn Day Deal

Popcorn takes center stage at Regal on National Popcorn Day, January 19.

Popcorn doesn’t just sit on the side of movie night. It drives the whole vibe. The butter, the salt, the crunch. Regal plans to put that classic combo in the spotlight on National Popcorn Day.

For one day only, Regal will give a free large popcorn to guests who show up in a movie-themed costume on January 19. The chain says the promo turns theaters into a celebration of movie fandom and the snack that defines the experience.

How to get the free large popcorn at Regal

Regal keeps it simple. Dress in a movie-themed costume and visit a participating location on Jan. 19. Guests then tell concession workers which movie or character they represent to claim the free large popcorn.

Regal also wants moviegoers to share their looks online. Fans can post “fit checks” from local theaters to Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, or X and tag @RegalMovies. Regal will pick 10 winners for three-month Regal Unlimited passes.

Costume rules you need to know before you go:

Regal listed limits meant to protect guest comfort and staff safety. It does not allow masks or face-obscuring hoods outside designated photo areas. Regal also bans face paint and realistic prop weapons at all times.

Bigger popcorn savings for frequent moviegoers

Regal also pushed its Snack Saver program for 2026. Loyalty members who buy Snack Saver get 50% off a large popcorn and a large soft drink every 24 hours through the end of the year.

Snack Saver usually costs $39.99. However, Regal will sell it for $29.99 through Jan. 31.

Roblox tie-in and an IMAX Mystery Movie

Regal will also bring the celebration to Roblox with a limited “meta theatre experience.” It launches Jan. 19 and runs for two weeks. Players can earn popcorn-themed accessories and free popcorn for an in-person visit.

On the big screen, Regal will mark the day with a Monday Mystery Movie screening in IMAX. Regal called it an advance screening of an upcoming wide release, with $11 tickets at locations that offer IMAX.

Regal guests can buy advance tickets at box offices and kiosks, in the app, and online.

As of Nov. 30, 2025, Regal operates 5,441 screens in 399 theaters across 41 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Guam.
