Channing Tatum breaks into true crime in “Roofman” this October.

An extraordinary true story is coming to the big screen in Roofman. It is a suspenseful new crime drama from acclaimed director Derek Cianfrance (The Place Beyond the Pines). The film stars Channing Tatum as Jeffrey Manchester. He is a former Army Ranger turned McDonald’s bandit whose crimes and prison escape earned him a legendary nickname and a second life hiding inside a Toys “R” Us.
This film is set to release exclusively in theaters on October 10. Roofman follows Manchester’s transformation from a struggling father to a criminal mastermind. Manchester is eventually caught after cutting through the roofs of McDonald’s restaurants to commit a string of unusual heists. He is imprisoned, only to escape and vanish in plain sight. Living secretly for six months inside a North Carolina Toys “R” Us, he survives completely undetected while planning his next move.

But things take a complicated turn when he falls for Leigh (Kirsten Dunst). She is a divorced mom who’s captivated by his charm. As their connection deepens, Manchester’s web of lies begins to unravel, drawing the attention of authorities and forcing him into a tense and emotional game of survival.

The cast also includes Peter Dinklage, Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Lily Collias, and Jimmy O. Yang. Cianfrance directs from a script based on the real-life case of Jeffrey Manchester, whose improbable story drew headlines and fascinated law enforcement.

Roofman blends gritty realism with emotional depth, exploring the complexities of identity, redemption, and the human instinct to escape. Watch it in theaters on October 10.
