Tim Allen welcomes his Tool Time family back to primetime in Shifting Gears S2.
ABC has dropped the official trailer for Season 2 of Shifting Gears, and it comes with a dose of nostalgia. The hit sitcom is bringing back Tim Allen’s Home Improvement co-stars Patricia Richardson, Richard Karn, and Debbe Dunning for a special reunion that longtime fans won’t want to miss.
A Trailer Filled With Familiar Faces
The trailer gives audiences their first look at the reunion. Richardson, Karn, and Dunning — who played Jill Taylor, Al Borland, and Heidi on Home Improvement — appear together in a scene that nods to their days on the fictional “Tool Time.” Seeing the trio alongside Allen marks the first time the cast has reunited on a sitcom stage in years.
Allen, who starred as Tim “The Toolman” Taylor in the 1990s sitcom, now leads Shifting Gears as Matt. He is a stubborn but lovable garage owner. The new season is set to blend the series’s new comedic energy with callbacks to one of TV’s most beloved family comedies.
Season 2 Premiere Details
Shifting Gears returns Wednesday, October 1, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, with episodes streaming the next day on Hulu. The Season 2 premiere kicks off with the Home Improvement reunion before continuing with fresh storylines centered around Matt’s growing garage family.
The series stars Tim Allen alongside Kat Dennings as Riley, Seann William Scott as Gabriel, Daryl Chill Mitchell as Stitch, Maxwell Simkins as Carter, and Barrett Margolis as Georgia.
New Guest Stars Join Season 2
Season 2 will also welcome a pair of high-profile guest stars. Comedian Gabriel Iglesias, known for his Netflix specials and sitcom Mr. Iglesias, is set to appear in a guest role. Joining him is entrepreneur and Shark Tank star Lori Greiner, adding her signature flair to the new season.
