Parker Finn’s ‘Smile 2’ unveils a terrifying new chapter with Naomi Scott.
The eerie horror franchise returns with Smile 2, set to release exclusively in theaters on October 18. The newly released trailer delves into a terrifying world where global pop sensation Skye Riley (played by Naomi Scott) is haunted by terrifying and inexplicable events as she prepares for her highly anticipated world tour. The singer’s fame only heightens her fear as the eerie occurrences intensify, leading Skye down a dangerous path to confront her troubled past before she loses control of her life.
Parker Finn, the director behind the breakout success of the first Smile film, returns to helm the sequel. He will bring back the bone-chilling atmosphere that left audiences hooked in 2022. The film features an ensemble cast. It includes Rosemarie DeWitt, Kyle Gallner, Lukas Gage, Miles Gutierrez-Riley, Peter Jacobson, Raúl Castillo, Dylan Gelula, and Ray Nicholson. With its intense psychological horror elements and Finn’s mastery of suspense, the trailer hints at a new, nightmarish journey. Watch Below!
The First Film.
Having attended the world premiere of the first Smile at Fantastic Fest, I had the privilege of witnessing the film’s instant impact on genre cinema. Its fresh take on psychological horror, bolstered by exceptional performances and eerie tension, led me to catch the movie again shortly after. The franchise’s haunting atmosphere and layered storytelling are only getting stronger with this second installment.
The first Smile was lauded for its deeply unsettling atmosphere and innovative approach to the horror genre. It left audiences unnerved long after the credits rolled. If the new trailer is any indication, Smile 2 will continue that legacy with even more psychological dread as Skye Riley’s celebrity status becomes a key element in her descent into terror.
