‘Squid Game’ returns to Netflix for season 2 on December 26.
There’s no stopping the game. Netflix’s Squid Game is set to return with its highly anticipated second season this December. This follows the explosive success of the first season. This time, the stakes are even higher, as protagonist Gi-hun, portrayed by Lee Jung-jae, returns to the treacherous competition that changed his life.
Three years have passed since Gi-hun escaped the deadly arena, securing his life and winnings.
However, rather than moving to the United States as he initially planned, he finds himself drawn back to the game with a newfound purpose. Gi-hun returns to the sinister tournament, determined to confront the shadowy organization behind it. As he once again risks life and limb, he’ll face fresh competitors who are equally desperate to win the monumental prize of 45.6 billion won.
The acclaimed Hwang Dong-hyuk returns as the series’ mastermind, serving as director, writer, and producer. Hwang made history with Squid Game’s first season, becoming the first Asian to win the Primetime Emmy® for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series. His direction in Season 2 promises to bring even more intensity and social critique to the screen.
In addition to Lee Jung-jae, returning cast members include Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo. They will be joined by a stellar lineup of newcomers, including Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, and Lee Jin-uk, all of whom are set to bring diverse and complex characters to life.
The new season will reintroduce fans to the psychological and moral quandaries. Squid Game is known for these challenges.
