The Accountant 2 trailer drops ahead of SXSW premiere.

Amazon MGM Studios has officially announced the global theatrical release of The Accountant 2 on April 25, 2025. The highly anticipated sequel to the 2016 action-thriller sees Ben Affleck reprise his role as Christian Wolff, a mathematical savant with lethal combat skills.

The sequel is directed by Gavin O’Connor and written by Bill Dubuque. The Accountant 2 brings back Jon Bernthal as Wolff’s equally dangerous brother, Brax. Joining them are returning cast members Cynthia Addai-Robinson and J.K. Simmons, along with newcomers Daniella Pineda and Allison Robertson.

The film follows Christian Wolff as he is drawn into a new mystery after an old acquaintance is murdered, leaving behind a cryptic message: “find the accountant.” With danger mounting, Wolff enlists his estranged brother, Brax, to assist in uncovering a deadly conspiracy. Their investigation leads them into a high-stakes conflict, forcing them to partner with U.S. Treasury Deputy Director Marybeth Medina (Addai-Robinson) as they become targets of a ruthless criminal network willing to kill to protect their secrets.
The original The Accountant earned a strong following for its unique blend of action, suspense, and character-driven storytelling. The sequel aims to build on that success. It will offer more high-intensity action and deeper exploration of the Wolff brothers’ complex relationship.

The Accountant 2 will make its world premiere at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival. Given the first film’s sleeper-hit status and Affleck’s return to the action-thriller genre, expectations are high for the sequel’s box office performance. With O’Connor back at the helm, fans can anticipate the same gritty, calculated action that made the original a standout.
The Accountant 2 will be released exclusively in theaters on April 25, 2025, before later arriving on Prime Video.
