Matt Reeves’ Gotham expands with “The Penguin” series.
HBO unveiled the official trailer for “The Penguin” today at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC). The eight-episode limited series, produced by Warner Bros. Television and DC Studios, will premiere weekly beginning Thursday, September 19 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and will also be available to stream on Max.
Starring Colin Farrell as Oz Cobb, also known as “The Penguin,” this series continues filmmaker Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” epic crime saga that began with Warner Bros. Pictures’ global blockbuster “The Batman.” Developed by showrunner Lauren LeFranc, “The Penguin” delves deeper into the character Farrell portrayed in the film, exploring his rise in Gotham’s criminal underworld. Joining Farrell is a talented ensemble cast. It includes Cristin Milioti as Sofia Falcone, Rhenzy Feliz as Victor Aguilar, Michael Kelly as Johnny Viti, Shohreh Aghdashloo as Nadia Maroni, Deirdre O’Connell as Francis Cobb, Clancy Brown as Salvatore Maroni, James Madio as Milos Grapa, Scott Cohen as Luca Falcone, Michael Zegen as Alberto Falcone, Carmen Ejogo as Eve Karlo, and Theo Rossi as Dr. Julian Rush.
The series promises to offer a gritty and immersive look at Gotham City.
It will continue the tone and style set by “The Batman.” Colin Farrell’s transformation into the iconic villain was one of the highlights of Reeves’ film. The series’ executive producers include Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Colin Farrell, and Lauren LeFranc, who also serves as the showrunner and writer. Craig Zobel directs the first three episodes and contributes as an executive producer alongside Bill Carraro.
“The Penguin” aims to expand the universe established in “The Batman.” It will offer fans a deeper look into the complex and dangerous world of Gotham’s criminals.
