Greta Lee joins Pixar’s Toy Story 5 as a high-tech newcomer.
Disney and Pixar have unveiled the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5. Fans don’t have to wait much longer for the return of Woody, Buzz, and the gang. This latest installment takes the beloved franchise into uncharted territory — the digital age — with the tagline “Toy meets Tech.”
The teaser introduces a new toy to the lineup: Lilypad. She is a high-tech, frog-shaped smart tablet voiced by Greta Lee (Past Lives, The Morning Show, TRON: Ares). Lilypad’s arrival throws the playroom into chaos as the legacy toys must face a new kind of threat. It is one that doesn’t need batteries or imagination to come to life.
Familiar Voices, New Faces
Fan favorites Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, Joan Cusack, and Tony Hale return to voice Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and Forky, respectively. Joining them is Conan O’Brien. He lends his voice to a new character named Smarty Pants — a potty-training tech toy with questionable wisdom.
The creative team behind Toy Story 5 features Academy Award winner Andrew Stanton (WALL- E, Finding Nemo, Finding Dory) in the director’s chair. He is joined by co-director Kenna Harris (Ciao Alberto). The film is produced by Lindsey Collins (Turning Red, Finding Dory).
A New Era of Playtime
Director Andrew Stanton and co-director Kenna Harris shared in a statement, “It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences. Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.”
As the teaser hints, the film will blend the nostalgic heart of the original series with modern themes about technology, imagination, and what it means to be a toy in the digital age.
Toy Story 5 is set to open in theaters nationwide on June 19, 2026.
