Pharrel Jerome stars as wrestling champion Anthony Robles in Prime Video’s Unstoppable.
Amazon MGM Studios has just dropped the trailer for Unstoppable, its highly anticipated biographical sports drama slated to debut on Prime Video on January 16, 2025. The film tells the powerful, true story of Anthony Robles. Jharrel Jerome portrays Robles, a young man born with one leg. He rose to prominence as a national wrestling champion through sheer grit and determination.
Unstoppable marks William Goldenberg’s directorial debut. Goldenberg is an Academy Award-winning editor known for his work on Argo and made Oscar-nominated contributions to The Imitation Game, Zero Dark Thirty, Seabiscuit, and The Insider. Goldenberg brings his knack for suspense and emotional depth to this inspirational narrative, amplifying Robles’ journey from an underdog to a champion.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast.
It includes Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Don Cheadle, and Jennifer Lopez, who plays Anthony’s supportive mother, Judy. Anthony Robles himself also appears in the film, credited as “Anthony Robles Double,” performing his own wrestling stunts. Robles additionally served as a producer, ensuring his story’s authenticity and the wrestling choreography’s accuracy.
For Jerome, portraying Robles required intense physical and mental preparation, including months of wrestling training under Robles’ guidance to accurately reflect the tenacity required for the role. The result is a performance that captures the resilience and raw determination that defined Robles’ real-life ascent in the wrestling world.
Artists Equity produced Unstoppable, a production company founded by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon. It stands out for its commitment to accessibility. The film employed Accessibility Coordinators from IndieVisible. This created a safe and productive set for cast and crew members of all abilities. Audiences can expect Unstoppable to be a heart-pounding tribute to perseverance. It highlights how support, tenacity, and an unbreakable will help overcome even the greatest obstacles.
