Netflix is stepping onto the fairway with a brand-new sports comedy built around one stubborn golf legend who refuses to hang up his clubs.
The upcoming series The Hawk stars Will Ferrell as Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, a former golf champion who believes his greatest moment is still ahead of him. Even after years away from the spotlight, Hawkins remains convinced he can return to the PGA TOUR and complete the one achievement that has always eluded him.
For Lonnie, retirement is simply not part of the plan.
Instead, he is determined to chase one last major victory and cement his place among golf’s greatest champions.
A Golf Legend Stuck Between Past Glory and One More Shot
Lonnie Hawkins once ruled the sport. During his legendary 2004 season, he stood at the top of the golf world as the game’s number one player.
However, the years have not been kind to the once-dominant star. His body is starting to fail him, and most people around him believe his competitive days are long over.
Lonnie strongly disagrees.
In his mind, the story is not finished yet. With just one more major championship needed to complete golf’s Grand Slam, the aging golfer becomes obsessed with proving he still belongs on the biggest stage.
That belief drives the entire premise of The Hawk. The series follows Lonnie as he attempts to stage a comeback that many believe is impossible.
Whether the sport is ready for him again is another question entirely.
Family, Rivals, and a Lot of Chaos
Lonnie’s return to competitive golf does not happen in isolation. His comeback pulls several people from his personal life back into the spotlight.
His son Lance has become a professional golfer himself and represents the new generation of talent in the sport. Meanwhile, Lonnie’s ex-wife Stacy still plays a major role in the family dynamic, even though their relationship remains complicated.
Lance’s fiancée Natalie adds another layer of attention thanks to her social media fame. At the same time, Lonnie begins working with a new caddie named Sam, who quickly learns that managing the stubborn golf legend may be harder than carrying the clubs.
Old rivalries also return as Lonnie attempts to reclaim his place in the game. Golden Fisk remains one of the biggest threats standing between him and redemption. Beyond the course, PGA TOUR board member Anton may have his own reasons to challenge Lonnie’s comeback.
Even Stacy’s new partner Radford becomes part of the chaos surrounding Lonnie’s attempt to rewrite his legacy.
