Professor X, Magneto and Cyclops Return in Avengers: Doomsday Teaser

Avengers: Doomsday teaser reveals classic X-Men faces, and a comic-true Cyclops look.

The third teaser for “Avengers: Doomsday” is here, and it’s the most X-Men-forward look at the movie yet. After earlier previews leaned on classic Avengers energy, teaser No. 3 pivots hard into mutant mythology, bringing back two of the most iconic faces in superhero cinema.

Sir Patrick Stewart returns as Professor Charles Xavier, seated in the character’s legendary wheelchair, while Sir Ian McKellen is back as Magneto with a wilder look that instantly caught fans’ attention. The teaser stages them exactly where longtime viewers want them: across from each other at a chessboard, with the following from Magneto himself:

“Death comes for us all… The question isn’t are you prepared to die, the question is who will you be when you close your eyes?

The X-Men take center stage.

The teaser also confirms another major return: James Marsden as Scott Summers, better known as Cyclops. He appears in costume mid-battle and unleashes a major laser beam, which is far more faithful to the comics and leans into the classic look fans have begged to see on screen. It’s a clear signal that “Doomsday” isn’t just borrowing the X-Men brand. It’s embracing the visuals and attitude that made these characters pop in the first place.

Cyclops’ inclusion also suggests the mutants won’t be background players. Marvel is positioning them as key pieces on the board, which could mean the film’s big conflict isn’t only about Earth’s mightiest heroes anymore.

How it connects to the earlier teasers

The first wave of “Doomsday” previews played like a greatest-hits reminder of the Avengers era, with footage highlighting Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Chris Hemsworth’s Thor. Teaser number 3 feels like the next chapter. Instead of looking backward, it teases the MCU’s future by pushing mutants into the spotlight.

That strategy makes sense. The MCU has been building toward this moment for years, and a teaser centered on Xavier and Magneto is Marvel saying the quiet part out loud: The X-Men aren’t coming. They’re already here.

“Avengers: Doomsday” opens in theaters Dec. 18, 2026.
