A dog’s heart leads to human healing in MERV.
Prime Video is set to release MERV, a heartfelt romantic comedy starring Zooey Deschanel and Charlie Cox. The film follows Anna (Deschanel) and Russ (Cox), an ex-couple whose breakup leaves their beloved dog, Merv, in emotional shambles. When Merv loses his spark, the two are reluctantly pulled into the world’s most awkward co-parenting arrangement.
Hoping to help their furry friend recover, Russ takes Merv on a sunny getaway to Florida, only for Anna to crash the trip unexpectedly. What starts as an attempt to heal their dog’s broken heart turns into a journey that reignites old feelings and forces the pair to confront the love they left behind.
Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team
MERV also features Saturday Night Live alum Chris Redd and Everybody Loves Raymond star Patricia Heaton. The film is directed by Jessica Swale. She is known for her work on Summerland, and penned by writers Dane Clark and Linsey Stewart.
The mix of heartfelt humor, awkward encounters, and canine charm promises an emotional yet lighthearted watch for fans of romantic comedies and dog lovers alike.
Release Details
MERV will stream globally on Prime Video starting December 10, 2025. Expect a blend of laughter, tears, and tail wags as Deschanel and Cox prove that sometimes, the path to reconciliation begins with man’s best friend.
