Jodie Comer and Aaron Taylor-Johnson star in the apocalyptic Sequel, 28 Years Later.

Sony Pictures has dropped a brand new official trailer for 28 Years Later, the highly anticipated return to the world of the rage virus. The film reunites director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Alex Garland after more than two decades since 28 Days Later shook audiences in 2002.
Set nearly 30 years after the original outbreak, 28 Years Later follows a resilient group of survivors still trapped within a relentlessly enforced quarantine zone. Living on a small island connected to the British mainland by a single, fortified causeway, these survivors have carved out a life in the shadow of infection.
But when one member ventures into the decaying world beyond their sanctuary, he uncovers long-buried secrets, terrifying evolutions of the infected, and shocking truths about other survivors who’ve adapted to this new, violent world in even darker ways.

Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, and Ralph Fiennes lead the cast. Cillian Murphy, star of the original film, serves as executive producer on the project, adding a deeper connection to the franchise’s roots.

28 Years Later is directed by Academy Award winner Boyle and written by Academy Award nominee Garland. It marks a full-circle creative reunion for the original team behind the cult-favorite horror thriller. The new trailer teases the same raw intensity and unnerving realism that made 28 Days Later a genre-defining hit.
28 Years Later opens exclusively in theaters on June 20, 2025.
