Critics Choice Nominees Have Been Revealed For 29th Annual Awards

Barbie leads with 18 nominations for the Critics Choice Awards.

The Critics Choice Association (CCA) has announced this year’s film category nominees for the highly anticipated 29th annual Critics Choice Awards. “Barbie” has taken the lead with 18 nominations, making it the most nominated film. The star-studded gala will be broadcast live on The CW on Sunday, January 14, 2024, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm ET (delayed PT, check local listings) and hosted by the incomparable Chelsea Handler. “Barbie” has been nominated for several awards, including Best Picture, Best Comedy, and Best Hair and Makeup.

The film is recognized for its talented cast, with Margot Robbie nominated for Best Actress, Ryan Gosling for Best Supporting Actor, and America Ferrera for Best Supporting Actress. The film’s ensemble cast, which features up-and-coming star Ariana Greenblatt, is nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress. Greta Gerwig is nominated for Best Director, while Gerwig and Noah Baumbach are in the running for Best Original Screenplay. The film’s technical aspects, including the work of cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto, production designers Sarah Greenwood and Katie Spencer, editor Nick Houy, and costume designer Jacqueline Durran, are also recognized with nominations in their respective categories.

Additionally, several hit songs from the film, such as “Dance the Night,” “I’m Just Ken,” and “What Was I Made For,” are acknowledged, and the film’s score, composed by Mark Ronson and Andrew Wyatt, is up for Best Score. Two films are neck and neck in the race with an impressive 13 nominations each. “Killers of the Flower Moon” is close behind with 12 nominations. The other films in the Best Picture category are “American Fiction,” “Maestro,” “Past Lives,” “Saltburn,” “The Color Purple,” and “The Holdovers.”
