Game of Thrones prequel series teases a new era of Westeros adventures.

HBO has officially released the first teaser for its upcoming original drama series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms during a special panel at New York Comic Con. The new half-hour series from the world of Westeros will debut Sunday, January 18, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO, with streaming available on HBO Max. New episodes will air weekly on Sundays.
A Return to Westeros
Set a century before the events of Game of Thrones, the series follows a pair of unlikely heroes as they journey across the Seven Kingdoms. Ser Duncan the Tall — known affectionately as Dunk — is a brave but naïve young knight, while his squire, Egg, hides a secret royal lineage. Together, they embark on adventures across Westeros during a time when the Targaryen dynasty still rules the Iron Throne and dragons are not yet forgotten.

According to the official logline, “great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.”
The Cast and Characters
The series stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg. The supporting cast includes:
- Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon
- Bertie Carvel as Baelor Targaryen
- Danny Webb as Ser Arlan of Pennytree
- Sam Spruell as Maekar Targaryen
- Shaun Thomas as Raymun Fossoway
- Finn Bennett as Aerion Targaryen
- Edward Ashley as Ser Steffon Fossoway
- Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle
- Henry Ashton as Daeron Targaryen

What to Expect
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms is the latest live-action expansion of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones universe, following the success of House of the Dragon. Unlike the sprawling political epic of its predecessors, this new series promises a more intimate, character-driven adventure with humor, heart, and heroism in a world still recovering from the age of dragons.
