“Mercy” Trailer Teases a Futuristic A.I. Justice System Led by Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson

The future of criminal justice takes a dark turn in Mercy.

The future of criminal justice is artificial intelligence. The official trailer for Mercy has been released, teasing a gripping sci-fi thriller starring Chris Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson. The film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Profile) and written by Marco van Belle. It is set to open in theaters on January 23, 2026.

A Fight for Innocence in a Machine-Run Court

Set in the near future, Mercy follows a detective, played by Pratt, who finds himself on trial for the murder of his wife. Once a vocal supporter of an advanced A.I. justice system, he’s now forced to defend himself before it — with only 90 minutes to prove his innocence.

Ferguson stars as the A.I. judge presiding over his case, an emotionless yet perceptive machine capable of deciding his fate. What begins as a battle for truth quickly becomes a race against time, blurring the line between justice and vengeance.

The trailer highlights Mercy’s high-stakes tension and sleek futuristic tone. The film raises questions about humanity’s reliance on artificial intelligence to make moral decisions.

A Futuristic Thriller Made for the Big Screen

The film also features Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers in supporting roles. Filmed for IMAX and designed to be experienced in 3D, Mercy promises an immersive blend of action, suspense, and emotional drama. Bekmambetov, known for his innovative visual style, brings his signature energy to a story that questions whether technology can truly understand justice.
