Fixed is an animated adventure that’s anything but family-friendly.

What happens when man’s best friend faces the ultimate loss of manhood? In Netflix’s new adult animated comedy Fixed, a quick-witted mutt named Bull (voiced by Adam Devine) discovers that his owners plan to neuter him after one too many chaotic misadventures. With only 24 hours left before “the big snip,” Bull embarks on an all-night journey to live life to the fullest—and maybe finally confess his love to the show dog next door, Honey (voiced by Kathryn Hahn).
The film is directed by Genndy Tartakovsky. He is a five-time Emmy Award winner and the legendary creator behind Samurai Jack, Dexter’s Laboratory, and Primal. Tartakovsky describes Bull as “a complete human, as a dog,” explaining that while the mutt believes his powers come from his “dangly bits,” he ultimately learns “that it is what is inside that is important.”
The voice cast is stacked, with Idris Elba, Bobby Moynihan, Fred Armisen, Beck Bennett, Michelle Buteau, River Gallo, and Grey DeLisle joining Devine. However, what truly sets the film apart is its unapologetic adult humor, paired with vibrant, eye-popping 2D animation.
The Cast on Dog Privileges They Wish Humans Had
When I asked Devine, Bennett, and Gallo what dog behaviors they wished humans could get away with, Bennett immediately said he envied the ability to sleep all day, noting that “dogs are supposed to sleep like 18 hours a day” and admitting he’d happily adopt that lifestyle himself. Devine, never one to hold back, laughed that he would “lick my own nut sack—for both pleasure and cleanliness,” before conceding that long naps sounded great too. Gallo’s wish leaned toward the messy, admitting that he liked “eating with my hands” and envied dogs’ ability to eat anywhere, recalling how his mom sometimes feeds their dog on her bed.

What They’d Do With Bull’s Last 24 Hours
In Fixed, Bull spends his final day before surgery on a reckless, anything-goes adventure. Devine pointed out that Bull “partied very hard” and even “murdered a squirrel immediately,” which he admitted probably wouldn’t be his first move but fit the character’s chaotic energy. Bennett joked that he might actually take the same route, saying, “If they’re gonna snip me down there, I’m gonna get a squirrel before I lose those guys,” while reflecting on the thrill of still having that hunter’s adrenaline. Gallo, however, had a more unfiltered answer, saying he would have joined the dog orgy that Bull avoided, adding with a grin that he “wouldn’t have shied away from that”.

Imagining Spinoffs for Their Characters
The cast also had fun imagining spin-off shows for their characters. Bennett, who voices Sterling, said his series would be called Stir the Pot and follow a chef who messes with everyone’s food, laughing that it was a perfect fit because “he likes to stir the pot” in every sense. Devine envisioned Bull hosting a daytime talk show titled Snipped, which he described as “about losing your nutsack, getting over it, and diving deep into the emotional state of dogs and people,” comparing it to Maury Povich but for pets. Gallo leaned into Frankie’s risqué personality, pitching a reality-style show where his doggy brothel becomes “a sort of Love Island with sex workers,” which he insisted would actually make for compelling television.
A Raunchy Yet Heartfelt Comedy
With unapologetic humor and outrageous scenarios, Fixed is far from a kids’ cartoon. Yet amid the butt jokes, chaotic adventures, and even conversations about dog orgies, the film still carries heart in Bull’s journey of self-discovery.
Based on my wild conversation with Devine, Bennett, and Gallo, it’s clear the cast had just as much fun cutting loose as their characters did on screen. Fixed is now streaming on Netflix.
