Juno Temple Talks Ted Lasso, The Offer, and the Wild Sci-Fi Ride of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die – INTERVIEW

Juno Temple reflects on Keeley Jones and her new sci-fi Adventure with Sam Rockwell.

Oscar winner Sam Rockwell leads the chaotic sci-fi adventure Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die, directed by Pirates of the Caribbean filmmaker Gore Verbinski, whom I previously spoke with. The film is now available on digital and arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on April 21 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

The film blends dark comedy, time travel, and artificial intelligence paranoia into a genre-bending story about saving humanity. It follows a mysterious man who claims to be from the future. He recruits a group of diner patrons to help stop an AI apocalypse fueled by social media chaos and digital overload.

The ensemble includes Zazie Beetz and Michael Peña, with whom I also spoke with, as well as Haley Lu Richardson, Asim Chaudhry, and Juno Temple. Each performer brings their own energy to the wildly unpredictable story.

For Temple, the script was impossible to put down. “I absolutely couldn’t stop reading it,” Temple told Nerdtropolis. “I stayed up way too late finishing the script because it was such an amazing experience to have absolutely no idea what was going to happen on the next page.”

She described the script as emotionally unpredictable in the best way. “You’d feel a lot of different emotions on one page alone,” she said. “That roller coaster feeling continued the entire read.”

Temple also appreciated that the story ends with hope rather than easy victory. “It doesn’t end with an immediate success story,” she explained. “But there’s hope, and I thought that was brilliant.”

Collaborating With Gore Verbinski and Sam Rockwell

Working with Gore Verbinski was another major draw for Temple. “I think Gore Verbinski is an absolute genius,” she said. “I still can’t believe I got to work with him.”

However, she also credited Sam Rockwell’s presence for helping unify the cast. “When I read the script, I knew I would follow Sam to do whatever he asked me to do,” Temple said. “I trust him. I really do.”

That trust was shared across the entire ensemble. “I think if you asked any of the cast members, they’d all say the same thing,” she said. “We’d follow Sam.”

Temple described the production as one of the most collaborative environments she has experienced. “It was a very precious group of people,” she said. “Everyone helped each other, ran lines together, and shared ideas. It felt incredibly collaborative and really special.”

The Film’s AI Themes and Technology

Because the film explores the dangers of artificial intelligence and online culture, many viewers have wondered whether the project changed Temple’s own relationship with technology.

The actor admitted she has never been heavily dependent on it. “I’m not someone who’s very dependent on technology,” Temple said with a laugh. “I’m actually very good at losing my phone for long periods of time.”

Still, she acknowledged the incredible benefits technology provides. “Right now I’m sitting in rainy England at a studio for another project, and I’m getting to chat with you in Texas,” she said. “Those things never get old to me.”

At the same time, Temple emphasized the importance of real-world interaction.

“I think it’s really important to interact with the person you’re sitting next to,” she said. “Whether you’re on the bus or walking into a café, those moments matter.”

Looking Back on The Offer

Temple’s career includes standout roles across film and television, including the acclaimed series The Offer, which explored the behind-the-scenes creation of The Godfather.

When I mentioned how much I admired the show, Temple reflected on how meaningful the experience was for her. “That was a really great experience,” she said. “Getting to learn about how hard it was to make such an extraordinary film that we all love.”

The series revealed the uphill battle that filmmakers faced while bringing Francis Ford Coppola’s legendary movie to life. “It wasn’t an easy fight,” Temple said. “It was an incredible learning experience and an honor to explore that story.”

Why Ted Lasso Will Always Feel Like Home

Of course, many fans will always associate Temple with Keeley Jones, the beloved character from Apple TV+’s hit comedy Ted Lasso.

Even years later, Temple says the series still feels deeply personal. “I don’t know if it will ever feel completely far away from me,” she said.

Temple described Keeley as a character she will always cherish. “She’s someone I’ll forever love and always be willing to talk about and inhabit,” Temple said. “Keeley Jones is truly a joy.”

The show also left a lasting impact on her life. “It’s an extraordinary project with extraordinary people both in front of and behind the camera,” she said. “It changed my life, and I’m eternally grateful for that.”

A Career Fans Will Keep Rediscovering

From prestige television to genre-bending cinema, Temple continues to build one of the most versatile careers in Hollywood.

Her performances in Ted Lasso, The Offer, and now Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die highlight her ability to move seamlessly between comedy, drama, and high-concept storytelling.

And if Temple has anything to say about it, the strange, hilarious, and chaotic journey at the heart of this new film is exactly the kind of ride audiences will enjoy. After all, when the fate of humanity is on the line, sometimes the only plan left is simple.

Good luck.
Have fun.
Don’t die.
