Fall down the rabbit hole again as Alice in Wonderland arrives in 4K Ultra HD.

Disney is inviting audiences to tumble back down the rabbit hole as Alice in Wonderland returns in a stunning new 4K restoration. In celebration of its 75th anniversary, the beloved animated classic arrives on Digital and 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray May 5, delivering a vibrant new presentation that honors the artistry of one of Disney’s most imaginative films.
Fans will have an early opportunity to experience the restoration during a special one-night-only screening at the TCM Film Festival on May 1. The premiere offers audiences a first look at the meticulously remastered film before its in-home release.
For decades, Alice in Wonderland has remained a cornerstone of Disney animation, known for its colorful, dreamlike visuals, playful storytelling, and unforgettable characters. Now, the film’s whimsical world has been carefully restored to bring new clarity and depth to every frame while preserving the charm that made it a timeless favorite.
A 9-Month Restoration Honoring Walt Disney’s Original Vision
The Walt Disney Film Restoration team dedicated more than nine months to carefully restore and remaster the film in 4K Ultra HD. Artists began with a digital scan of the original nitrate Successive Exposure (SE) negatives before performing extensive cleanup work to correct dust, warping, and age-related wear.
To maintain authenticity, the team referenced original production artwork preserved by the Walt Disney Animation Research Library. These materials helped guide color accuracy, contrast, and brightness to ensure the restored film remained faithful to the original theatrical presentation.

Walt Disney Animation Studios veteran Michael Giaimo collaborated closely with the restoration team, reviewing each shot and helping preserve the filmmakers’ original intent while enhancing visual clarity for modern audiences.
Kevin Schaeffer, Director of Restoration & Library Management, emphasized the significance of preserving the artistry behind the film.
“The original animation artists’ work on Alice in Wonderland is stunning, and we’re proud to present it with renewed clarity and vibrancy,” Schaeffer said. “This milestone restoration brings new depth and dimension to the film’s imaginative world, offering a vibrant presentation for longtime fans and a new generation of audiences alike.”
Bonus Features Offer a Deeper Look Into Wonderland
The 75th anniversary edition includes a strong lineup of bonus features that celebrate the film’s creative legacy. Fans can explore archival materials, behind-the-scenes content, and rare extras that highlight the artistry behind Disney’s whimsical adaptation.
Among the highlights is reference footage accompanied by commentary from Kathryn Beaumont, the original voice of Alice. The release also includes classic companion shorts such as Thru the Mirror, featuring Mickey Mouse, and Alice’s Wonderland from the original Alice Comedies that helped inspire the animated feature.

Additional content includes deleted scenes and music videos such as “Beware the Jabberwock” and “If You’ll Believe in Me,” offering longtime fans and newcomers alike even more reasons to revisit the imaginative world of Wonderland.
A Very Merry Unbirthday for a Timeless Disney Classic
Few animated films capture imagination quite like Alice in Wonderland. From the Mad Hatter’s tea party to the mischievous grin of the Cheshire Cat and the fiery temper of the Queen of Hearts, the film’s iconic characters and surreal storytelling continue to resonate across generations.
Alice’s journey begins with a simple moment of curiosity as she follows the White Rabbit into a strange and unpredictable world filled with peculiar personalities and unforgettable encounters. Along the way, she meets Tweedledee and Tweedledum, the March Hare, and a host of other whimsical characters that have helped define Disney animation for 75 years.
While the film never answers the famous riddle, “Why is a raven like a writing desk?”, its legacy continues to inspire audiences with creativity, humor, and visual innovation. The 75th anniversary edition serves as a fitting celebration of the film’s enduring appeal and invites audiences to rediscover its magic in stunning 4K clarity.
