She began in regional theater, honing her craft at esteemed institutions like the Goodman Theatre, Lookingglass Theatre Company, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, and Berkeley Repertory Theatre. A key moment was her collaboration with director Mary Zimmerman on “Metamorphoses,” which took her to New York and earned a Tony nomination for Best Play. On Broadway, Bhimani’s versatility shone through roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s “Bombay Dreams” and collaborations with Tony Kushner and Maurice Sendak. She also starred in productions like “The Existents,” “A Widow of No Importance,” and “Roof of the World.”

Anjali has also left an indelible mark on both the small and big screens with her diverse roles. She’s been recognized for her portrayal of Auntie Ruby in the Disney Plus series “Ms. Marvel” and has appeared in shows like “Dead to Me,” “Special” on Netflix, “Alex Inc.,” and as Nina Patel on ABC’s “Modern Family.” Her extensive TV credits include “9-1-1: Lone Star,” “Law and Order: SVU,” “Marvel’s Runaways,” “S.W.A.T.,” “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “Grace and Frankie,” “The Sopranos,” and many more.

In 2022, Bhimani dropped “I Am Fun Size and So Are YOU!”

It a successful book that became a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestseller and topped Barnes and Noble and Amazon charts. Adding to her dynamic portfolio, Anjali recently served as the Dungeon Master for a live-streamed game from the LEGO House, celebrating LEGO’s first official D&D set. This unique event showcased her talents in storytelling and game mastery. She has also ventured into the podcasting world with her new show, Character Select, co-hosted with Julia Bianco. The podcast delves into memorable video game performances featuring guests like Matt Mercer, Jennifer Hale, and Erika Ishii.

Anjali Bhimani will host the 2024 Games for Change Awards. It will take place at the annual Games for Change Festival on June 27 in New York City. Games for Change, a leading global advocate for the power of games and immersive media as drivers of social impact, will reveal the winners during the ceremony, highlighting the best in games and media that inspire social change.

For almost 10 years, Anjali has been a prominent voice in the gaming world. She is celebrated for her roles as Symmetra in Overwatch and Rampart in Apex Legends. Her versatility extends beyond gaming, with notable performances in Critical Role’s Candela Obscura and the acclaimed actual-play Dungeons & Dragons show DesiQuest. In DesiQuest, Bhimani portrays Sitara, a Druid who can shift her appearance and communicate telepathically, captivating audiences with the character’s complex narrative.
