Beetlejuice returns after 35 years.

Tim Burton’s iconic tale of the afterlife is getting a long-awaited sequel with “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Fans of the 1988 classic will be thrilled to know that the mischievous demon is back, along with some familiar faces and a host of new characters. Michael Keaton reprises his role as the titular character, Beetlejuice, alongside Winona Ryder as Lydia Deetz and Catherine O’Hara as Delia Deetz. Justin Theroux, Monica Bellucci, Arthur Conti, Jenna Ortega, and Willem Dafoe are joining the ensemble cast, promising an exciting blend of seasoned talent and fresh faces. Watch the trailer below!
The sequel is set in Winter River.
It follows three generations of the Deetz family grappling with an unexpected tragedy. Lydia’s life turns chaotic when her rebellious teenage daughter, Astrid, stumbles upon a mysterious model of the town in the attic. By doing so, she inadvertently opens a portal to the afterlife. Trouble brews in both realms, and it’s only a matter of time before Beetlejuice returns to wreak havoc again.

The sequel is by director Tim Burton. “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” promises to capture the quirky charm and dark humor of its predecessor. Behind the scenes, Burton’s creative team includes longtime collaborators such as director of photography Haris Zambarloukos, production designer Mark Scruton, and editor Jay Prychidny. Academy Award winners Colleen Atwood and Neal Scanlan handle costume design and creature effects, respectively. At the same time, Danny Elfman returns to compose the film’s score, accompanied by hair and makeup designer Christine Blundell.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” will be released exclusively in theaters and IMAX on September 6, 2024. It will released internationally beginning on September 4. The sequel promises to enchant longtime fans and newcomers alike with its blend of whimsy, wit, and otherworldly adventure.
