Brad Pitt returns to the fast lane in new racing thriller F1.
The engines are revving, and the hype is real as the first trailer for F1, the upcoming motorsports thriller starring Brad Pitt, has officially dropped. This upcoming film is from the creative team behind Top Gun: Maverick. It is set to hit theaters worldwide in IMAX on June 27, 2025 (June 25 internationally).
A Star-Studded Racing Drama
Produced by Hollywood powerhouse Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Joseph Kosinski (Top Gun: Maverick), F1 promises intense action, high-stakes drama, and breathtaking race sequences shot during actual Grand Prix weekends. The film also boasts an impressive lineup of producers. It includes seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Jeremy Kleiner, Dede Gardner, and Chad Oman.
Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes. He is a once-promising F1 driver whose career was derailed by a tragic accident in the 1990s. Now a wandering racer-for-hire, Sonny gets an unexpected second chance when his former teammate, Ruben Cervantes (Javier Bardem), convinces him to return to the sport to help save his struggling team. Alongside him is rising star Joshua Pearce (Damson Idris), an ambitious young driver determined to carve his own path. But in the world of Formula 1, teammates are often the fiercest rivals. Sonny’s journey to redemption won’t be an easy one.
A Cast Built for Speed
The film features a stellar supporting cast. It includes Oscar-nominee Kerry Condon (The Banshees of Inisherin), Tobias Menzies (The Crown), Kim Bodnia (Killing Eve), and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men). With real F1 races serving as the backdrop, F1 aims to deliver an authentic, immersive racing experience unlike anything seen before on the big screen.
