Ralph Fiennes leads in Edward Berger’s ‘Conclave.’

Focus Features has announced the release of the highly anticipated film “Conclave.” It will be in select theaters on November 1, with a nationwide expansion on November 8. Edward Berger directs the film. He is best known for his work on “All Quiet on the Western Front.” The film promises to delve into one of the world’s most secretive and ancient rituals—selecting a new Pope. The screenplay, penned by Peter Straughan, is based on the acclaimed book by Robert Harris. “Conclave” boasts a stellar cast. It includes Ralph Fiennes, Stanley Tucci, John Lithgow, Lucian Msamati, Brían F. O’Byrne, Carlos Diehz, Merab Ninidze, Thomas Loibl, with Sergio Castellitto and Isabella Rossellini.

The story centers on Cardinal Lawrence, portrayed by Ralph Fiennes, who oversees the highly confidential and ceremonious process of electing a new Pope following the unexpected demise of the beloved pontiff. As the Catholic Church’s most influential leaders gather from around the globe and seclude themselves within the hallowed halls of the Vatican, Lawrence becomes entangled in a complex conspiracy.
