Actor Will Forte believes ‘Coyote vs. Acme could be released despite frustration.
In a recent interview, actor Will Forte shared a heartfelt message for supporters eagerly awaiting the release of the unreleased film “Coyote vs Acme,” which is currently in limbo due to studio deliberations. The movie, a unique live-action/animated hybrid starring Forte alongside the iconic “Looney Tunes” characters, including the beloved Wile E. Coyote, was initially slated for release on July 21, 2023. The film, directed by Dave Green and produced by James Gunn, promises a fresh and humorous take on the classic cartoon world. It was teased that it may be released sometime in 2024.
Based on Ian Frazier’s New Yorker article “Coyote v Acme,” the film follows Wile E. Coyote’s legal battle against the ACME Corporation after their products repeatedly fail him in his pursuit of the elusive Roadrunner. John Cena also co-stars in the film. Despite the film’s promising premise and positive reception after friends and family screening, Warner Bros. faced financial considerations and decided to shelve the project for tax purposes. However, there’s a glimmer of hope as the studio has allowed the filmmakers the opportunity to shop the movie to other studios before it’s permanently deleted. However time is running out.
During an interview promoting “Thelma The Unicorn,” Forte expressed his frustration.
Forte says it is a sad situation and saw it with his own eyes and says it’s great. He refused to believe that, at some point, it wouldn’t be out there. It is too good to sit on the sled, and he is very proud of it.
Fans of the Looney Tunes franchise are eagerly anticipating the release of “Coyote vs. Acme.” The film’s unique concept and star-studded cast promise an entertaining experience. As time ticks by, the fate of “Coyote vs Acme” remains uncertain. However, Forte’s message points to the film’s quality and the disappointment waiting on everyone involved.
