After an incredible 48 hours in Austin interviewing the cast of King of the Hill and joining the cast and crew of Dangerous Animals for a water-based screening, I hit the road again—this time for Dallas Fan Expo 2025. But this wasn’t just another convention weekend. It became one of the most memorable experiences I’ve had, personally and professionally.
A Mother’s Day Gift to Remember
This year, I brought my mom along for the ride. Her Mother’s Day wish? To meet Priscilla Presley. We’re both longtime Elvis fans and even visited Graceland together, so this was a full-circle moment for us.
Even on a Sunday, the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center was buzzing. The crowd was massive, the setup was exceptional, and the energy was high. From packed autograph lines to vendors and elaborate cosplay, Fan Expo delivered on every front.
A Star-Studded Lineup
Dallas Fan Expo boasted one of its most stacked guest rosters yet. Film, TV, comics, and animation celebrities were out in full force. Among the major names:
Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Elisabeth Shue, Zachary Levi, John Cena, Felicia Day, David Boreanaz, John Boyega, Priscilla Presley, Huey Lewis, James Marsters, Seth Green, Erica Durance, Ashley Eckstein, Yuri Lowenthal, Donny Cates, Greg Capullo, and dozens more.
Every corner of fandom was represented, from Back to the Future reunions to comic creators and animation legends.
A Fan Expo Mission from Fluffy
One of my first stops was to see my friend and Nerdtropolis ambassador, Gabriel Iglesias. Fluffy himself had personally requested some of our exclusive Nerdtropolis shirts—and when Gabriel asks, you drop everything and drive four hours to deliver. I recently caught up about his role as Boots in the upcoming film Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado so stay tuned for that!
He’s been a supporter of Nerdtropolis since day one, and his panel was a highlight of the show. Full of laughs, heart, and classic Fluffy storytelling, it reminded me how lucky I am to now call someone I grew up watching on Nickelodeon a friend.
An Unforgettable Encounter With Priscilla Presley
Then came the moment we’d been waiting for. Meeting Priscilla Presley wasn’t just a meet-and-greet—it was personal. We brought along a photo album from our Graceland trip, and she flipped through every page. She even complimented one of my mom’s rings, which my mom then gifted to her on the spot as a token of appreciation.
Priscilla was warm, humble, and gracious. The moment was emotional, meaningful, and deeply human. It was everything we hoped for and more.
The Power of Fandom
Fan Expo Dallas wasn’t just a convention but a celebration of everything we love: community, nostalgia, and connection. From special guest panels to spontaneous fan moments and shared memories with my mom, it reminded me why these events matter so much.
And the good news? The fandom fun continues.
Dallas Fan Festival returns Oct. 4–5, 2025, with Fan Expo Dallas 2026 set for Sept. 11–13. Mark your calendars.
