DC Announces “Bizarro: Year None,” a New Limited Series From Kevin Smith, Eric Carrasco and Nick Pitarra

DC flips Superman on his head with “Bizarro: Year None” limited series.

DC is bringing Bizarro back to center stage in a new comic series. On Friday, the publisher announced “Bizarro: Year None,” a four-issue limited run. Kevin Smith and Eric Carrasco will write the series, with Nick Pitarra handling art and the main cover.

In a very Bizarro twist, the announcement arrived with a backwards warning. “Me am NOT excited for new comic!” Bizarro said. “Bizarro: Year None am worst thing to happen!”

What “Bizarro: Year None” Is About

DC described the project as a new look at Bizarro’s origin. The series aims to deliver a “definitive, indefinitive” take on the character. That phrasing fits a villain who rarely plays by normal rules.

This story follows Jimmy Olsen and Perry White into outer space. The Daily Planet duo leaves Metropolis for an offbeat investigation. Soon, their trip lands them in a strange dimension that mirrors the city in unsettling ways.

However, the biggest surprise comes from what that world values. The people there treat the Daily Planet like an object of faith. As Jimmy and Perry dig deeper, they encounter the force shaping this warped reality.

A Mystery Built Around Superman’s Backwards Opposite

Bizarro stands as Superman’s famously inverted counterpart. He often speaks in mangled phrases and embraces the opposite of heroic logic. Over the decades, writers have also reimagined his origin more than once.

That history makes “Bizarro: Year None” a natural playground for contradictions. For example, the series frames Bizarro as a question as much as a character. Is he a misguided Superman superfan, a chaos agent, or “no one at all?”

Meanwhile, DC is leaning into tone as much as plot. The publisher promised humor and heart alongside high-concept weirdness. The setup also gives Jimmy and Perry a rare spotlight away from newsroom routines.

Creative Team and Release Details

Smith and Carrasco bring strong DC credentials to the book. Smith previously wrote “Green Arrow,” while Carrasco has worked on “Supergirl.” Pitarra, known for bold and detailed linework, will deliver the interior art and main cover.

“Bizarro: Year None” begins with issue No. 1 on April 1, 2026. After that, DC will publish the series monthly through July 2026. Readers can find it at participating comic shops and through digital retailers.

The first issue runs 32 pages and will cost $4.99. Additionally, DC will offer multiple variants. Variant covers will include work by Frank Quitely, Fernando Pasarin, and Ibrahim Moustafa, plus a foil variant by Pitarra.

Standard card stock variants will cost $5.99, while foil variants will cost $7.99. Finally, DC teased the series with a slogan that sounds like Bizarro wrote it himself: an “indefinitive” origin for “Superman’s bestest enemy ever.”
