Brandy and Rita Ora Return in ‘Descendants: Wicked Wonderland’

Fifth film in hit Disney Descendants franchise set for 2026 release.

Disney Branded Television has officially announced the title and returning cast for the fifth chapter in its beloved “Descendants” franchise. Descendants: Wicked Wonderland will see the return of pop culture icons Brandy and Rita Ora as Cinderella and the Queen of Hearts, roles they first brought to life in 2024’s Descendants: The Rise of Red.

Melanie Paxson as Fairy Godmother—marking her appearance in all five Descendants films—and Paolo Montalban as King Charming also reprise their roles. The new movie is currently in production and is slated for a 2026 release on both Disney Channel and Disney+.

With the casting now complete, the film’s ensemble also includes:

  • Kylie Cantrall as Red, daughter of the Queen of Hearts
  • Malia Baker as Chloe, daughter of Cinderella
  • Liamani Segura as Pink, Red’s sister
  • Brendon Tremblay as Max, son of Maddox Hatter
  • Alexandro Byrd as Luis, son of Luisa Madrigal
  • Kiara Romero as Hazel Hook, daughter of Captain Hook
  • Joel Oulette as Robbie, son of Robin Hood
  • Zavien Garret as Felix, son of Dr. Facilier
  • Ryan McEwen and Dayton Paradis as the Smee twins, Squirmy and Squeaky
  • Leonardo Nam as Maddox, the Mad Hatter’s son

Wicked Wonderland picks up after the time-traveling events of Descendants: The Rise of Red.

It dives into the challenges Chloe and Red face now that they’ve disrupted history. Set primarily in a reimagined Wonderland, the film explores the warning that closed out the previous movie: “There are consequences when you alter the fabric of time.”

Kimmy Gatewood (Muppets Mayhem) is directing, with a screenplay by Tamara Chestna (Sneakerella), Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer. Franchise veterans Suzanne Todd and Gary Marsh return as executive producers, with Gatewood also stepping in as co-producer.

Emmy-winning choreographer Emilio Dosal (Wicked, Sneakerella) will lead the musical and dance numbers that have become a signature of the Descendants brand.

This installment comes during the Descendants franchise’s 10th anniversary year.

Since Descendants premiered on Disney Channel in 2015, it has become a pop culture juggernaut. Each of the first three films was the most-watched cable movie in its release year. In 2024, The Rise of Red became the most-watched original movie on Disney+ for Kids and Girls 6–11. The film generated over 10 billion social impressions and inspired a top Halloween costume.

The franchise has also delivered chart-topping music, gold-certified soundtracks, bestselling books, and an animated spinoff (Wicked World). The Descendants/Zombies: Worlds Collide Tour, which will launch this summer, will celebrate music from both fan-favorite franchises.

Descendants: Wicked Wonderland continues the legacy, proving that when it comes to magic, music, and a touch of mayhem, the story is far from over.
